Walking Across The Landscape II
Another image from my archive of unpublished work. Captured in October of 2010 not far from my home.
The storm system was dying out as I headed down the highway, but I know better than to quit too early, as these Fall thunderstorms usually yield a burst of final energy before dissipating. Once I was far enough away from town lights, I pulled off onto a gravel road and drove a half a mile before pulling over. I quickly got out and set up a composition based on the last strike I had seen. One of twelve images captured before the storm gasped its final breath.
Originally processed in LR3. Reprocessed in Topaz B&W Effects 2 this evening. I used their preset 'Cool Tint Smoothed II', made a few contrast adjustments, then deepened the blacks considerably. Finally, a bit of sharpening, noise reduction, and a crop to create a more pleasing image.
