First off, I would like to thank everyone who came to the show last Friday night at Red Rock Canyon State Park's visitor center. We all had a very enjoyable evening. Thanks to Art Peters, director of the Hinton Historical Museum for the conversations. I look forward to many more of these talks and our upcoming trips to local places of interest. Thanks also to Dave and Nancy Sutton, Emily Scheffler, Travis Threlkeld, and especially Jennifer Meeks for making it happen.
It has been very, very windy the past few days. It was a good weekend to stay in and get some other work done. However, Sunday evening saw fine, wispy clouds building to the West and I just couldn't resist. Off to Indian Mounds* for the sunset. Once there it did not look too promising but after many years of doing this, I knew better than to leave and so, I stuck around. It was worth the wait.
The image above was created about 20 minutes after the sun had gone down, or in other words, civil twilight. Nikon D200, f/13 @ 35 mm, 25 seconds, ISO 100, no filters. The exposure time was reduced by 2 stops in Lightroom, then contrast was increased slightly, and finally some clarity was added.
Monday saw me setting up my 500px account (www.500px.com/holoceneimage). I found it really odd that each time I would post an image, my inbox would immediately begin filling up with "views, likes, favorites, and comments". There is nothing like a little instant gratification, but it was still weird! Thank you 500px for making it easy, and thanks to all of you online who viewed.
On the other hand, Google+ has been whacked. Can't seem to get anything to really work like it should since they changed the layout. Hmm . . . .
Am still messing around with Phase One's Capture Pro 7. More on this later.
*Thanks to Lee & Cleeta Thiessen for permission to wander around their property; without this consent, some of my work at Indian Mounds would not be possible.
Don't forget that all prints, matted or not are 30% off the month of June! Use the HOLO1 coupon at checkout.
